Errigal Through To Senior Semi Final

Four days rest did not seem to worry reigning champions Errigal Ciaran as they produced a master class to see off the challenge of neighbours Augher in Wednesday night’s Hunky Dorys senior championship quarter final. A small enough crowd travelled to Healy Park to watch a Ciaran Mc Ginley inspired Errigal coast to a 4-15 to 1-4 win. Augher needed a fast start but suffered the loss of talisman Aidan Cassidy early in the first half and from then on it was down hill for the St Mc Cartans. The game ended as a contest in a ninety second period late in the first half when Ciaran Mc Ginley created one goal and scored another as Errigal reached the break leading 2-7 to 0-1.
The second half saw Errigal produce some of their best football of the year as they pulled further ahead with goals from Peter Harte and Daisy Mc Dermott. In spite of their best efforts Augher could not stem the tide as their opponents slotted over several excellent scores from Davy Harte, Mc Ginley, Darren Canavan and Mark Kavanagh to make it through to a semi final meeting with the winners of Eglish and Clonoe.
