Eskra are through to the LCC Junior Final after a confident semi final display against Urney. With Peter Hughes and Joe Mc Carroll in fine form they controlled the first half before pulling away with four late points in a row to go off at the break leading by four. Jamie Mc Aleer and Johnny Lafferty carried most of the Urney scoring threat and but both players ran out of steam after the second water break and Eskra eased to a well deserved 3-10 to 0-10 victory.

Goals are always key scores in championship football and so it proved at O”Neills Healy Park on Friday night. Joe Mc Carroll bagged an early major to put Eskra ahead and added a second after the break when he finished a superb team move to the net with a delicate palmed finish. Points from Mc Aleer and Lafferty kept the scoreboard ticking along for Urney but in truth Eskra were never really troubled.

Mc Carroll showed considerable poise and skill to create his side’s third goal when he set Johnny Hackett up for a tap in finish as Eskra bagged their third goal of the match.

Urney began the second half well with two Jamie Mc Aleer scores but when Fergal Arkinson set up Mc Carroll for goal number two early in the second half the writing was on the wall for Urney. Johnny Lafferty, Mc Aleer, Fergal Mc Nulty, Danny Lynch and Jake Lafferty battled gamely but they failed to create a single goal scoring chance and Eskra proved deserving winners. Niall Mc Ginn, Eoin Mc Caffrey, Cathal Arkinson, Peter Hughes and Joe Mc Carroll were outstanding for the winners and ensured that the Emmetts remain on target for a league and championship double.
