For the third year in a row a Tyrone referee will take charge of the Ulster Colleges under card of the Schools Finals on St Patrick’s Day.
This year’s Mc Larnon Cup Final sees Clogher whistler Eugene McConnell officiate in the Colleges “B” decider which is an all Donegal clash between Innis Eoghain and St. Eunan’s Letterkenny .

Last year’s Mc Larnon Cup was refereed by Tyrone’s Cathal O’Hagan while the 2012 Final saw Cookstown’s Paul Coyle take charge.
This time around it’s the turn of Eugene Mc Connell to control this eagerly awaited local derby which will act as curtain raiser to the Mac Rory Cup Final between Omagh CBS and St Pats Maghera.

Making the day a family affair for the Mc Connells Eugene’s brother Martin will be involved in this game as part of the Maghera management team. Martin of course led St Pats to both Mc Rory Cup and Hogan Cup glory in 2013 and will be hoping for a repeat against his alma mater Omagh CBS where older brother Eugene was also a student.

Eugene has now officiated as the man in the middle across all of the Ulster Colleges finals having refereed Rannafast, Dalton, Corn na nÓg, Herald, Loch an Uir and O’Doherty Cups. The only one he hasn’t done is the Mac Rory Cup itself.
