Exciting Draw At Gardrum Park

Clonoe and Dromore faced each other in Division One of the All County League at Gardrum Park on Thursday evening and the home side found themselves five points behind with three minutes left. The score read Dromore 0-11, Clonoe 1-13 and the O’Rahillys seemed set for their first league win of the season.
However inspired by the introduction of Adrian and Fergal Mc Gurren Dromore hit five in a row to salvage a barely deserved draw. Those key scores coming from the Mc Gurrens and Tiernan Sludden before Niall Sludden slalomed through the Clonoe defence and hit the all important levelling score.
Clonoe played against the wind in the first half and with Danny Mc Nulty, Decky Mc Clure, Conor Mc Aliskey and Tommy Taggart in dominant form the O’Rahilly’s reached the break leading 1-7 to 0-5. Danny Mc Nulty took his goal well while Darragh Mc Grath, Decky Mc Clure, Conor Mc Aliskey, Tommy Taggart and Paschal Mc Clure got the points that deservedly put them ahead at the break.
Dromore looked flat at times and struggled to keep with the pace and movement of their opponents. The home side’s first half scores came from Niall Sludden, Paidi Dillon, Conor O’’Hara and Odhran Sludden.
The second half produced a huge improvement from Dromore but the home side missed numerous chances to close the gap. Clonoe looked to have weathered the storm as Mickey O’Neill and Dan Mc Nulty combined to relieve the pressure on the Clonoe defence.
With only a couple of minutes remaining few in the large crowd were expecting the game to finish the way it did but Dromore dug deep and five unanswered points meant a share of the spoils.
Final Score: Dromore 0-16, Clonoe 1-13
