Galbally travel to Loughmacrory on Saturday well aware of the result the last time these two teams met only a few weeks ago when the Pearses lost by five points at home. Relegation is the prospect facing the losers in this one and for both of these clubs the prospect of junior football next year is almost too much to bear.

Loughmacrory will have home advantage which could aid their cause but the championship nature of this game means the venue is largely irrelevant. The St Teresa’s had a super win last time out away to Urney where top scorer Ronan Ward once again showed his worth to the team. Ward could well be the difference between the sides this time again as Galbally lack such a central figure in their forward line. Paul Rafferty and Declan Murphy are both recovering from knee surgery while Micky Murphy is struggling with injury since damaging his leg in his side’s championship loss to Gortin.

Galbally have introduced quite a few young players this season but know that experience will be vital in Saturday’s game. Players like Martin Brannigan and Terry Donnelly will need to be on top form if their team is to escape a return to junior football. Loughmacrory have also been busy introducing younger players to the first team but they will also be expecting John Gallagher, Enda and Ronan Ward and Sean Paul Slane to provide the leadership such a game requires.

It promises to be a hugely intriguing fixture and is sure to attract a large crowd. This could well be the game of the weekend and whichever side wins it will go into the final playoff game in confident manner.
