“Fantastic Five” Could Point The Way To Victory
Thursday 06.10.2011

Dromore v Omagh matches are always tasty affairs for a variety of reasons not least of them being the derby nature of the game. This time the fact that it is a semi final just adds to the appeal of it. Both sides have had recent history in the championship when the Omagh lads took the then reigning county champions to a replay before losing out in that one. However much has changed since then both in terms of personnel and in form. Omagh have added several of their young up and coming players and five in particular have transformed the team.
Defenders Barry Tierney and Stevie Mullan are tenacious man markers but also add a lot to St Endas in terms of their willingness to support the attack. Big Conor Clarke has been a revelation at midfield but it is his versatility that offers manager Paddy Crozier so many options and knowing you have a big man who is comfortable playing anywhere up the middle is a reassuring thought. Up front Conan Grugan and Ronan O’Neill have made the step up to senior as seamlessly as could be hoped for. The performance of this quintet but the two front players in particular will have a huge say on how this game goes. Omagh have started their last games at great speed and if they replicate this they could be on the way to a first county final since 2005.
