Tyrone senior footballers recorded a third loss on the trot in Killarney on Sunday afternoon.  The Red Hands were hoping to secure a win and a League final place but it was the home side that hit the ground running.  Michael Geaney found the net for Kerry inside the opening two minutes and that score was followed up with points from Donnach Walsh and Paul Geaney.

Tyrone failed to score from play in the opening period.  They had to rely on four frees from Sean Cavanagh and a couple of dead balls from Peter Harte.  In contrast Kerry piled on the pressure with five of the six forwards recording points.  Three points from Walsh were followed up with frees from Paul Geaney, Barry John Keane, Michael Geaney and Stephen O’Brien. The home side led 1-12 to 0-6 at the break.

Mickey Harte brought on Conor Meyler and Jonathan Munroe after the break and both men had an impact on the game.  With a quarter of an hour left to play Tyrone had registered 2-4 to 0-6 over Kerry in the second half thanks to a goal from Peter Harte from play and one by the same player from the penalty spot.  Sean Cavanagh hit a couple of Tyrone points from frees and David Mulgrew flashed one over the bar as Tyrone cut the Kerry lead to five points. 1-18 to 2-10.

David Mulgrew’s second point six minutes from time would prove to be Tyrone’s last score as Kerry finished strongly with Paul Geaney, Tadgh Morley and Brian Sheehan all found the target as Kerry finished 1-21 to 2-11 winners.
