Moortown booked the last remaining place in the Hunky Dorys Intermediate championship quarter finals after getting past Aghyaran at Carrickmore on Sunday evening in a forgettable contest. The St.Malachys led 0-5 to 0-2 at halftime with Mark Crozier, Tony Quinn, Brian McLernon, Paudraic O’Hagan and Daniel Quinn getting their points, Ronan McNamee and Anthony Devine the marksmen for the St.Davogs. A mammoth free from McNamee five minutes into the second half reduced the deficit but amazingly that proved to be the one and only score of the second period. In the final minute Aghyaran almost claimed victory but Shane Sweeney was denied by keeper Colm Spiers. Moortown now play Rock in the last eight.
