The 2011 Irish Junior 40×20 Nationals take place this weekend in Kilkenny venues. Over 352 competitors will participate in this year’s event, and it promises to be an exciting weekend with all the top juveniles from every corner of Ireland entered and the winners of the U15 – U19 boys and girls competition will go forward and represent Ireland in the US Nationals in Tucson, Arizona during the Christmas holidays.

There has been a large entry this year from Tyrone with over 20 juveniles representing their respective clubs.
In the 15 and under boys Johnny Woods from Brackey holds the number two seed and will fancy his chances if he over comes his training partner and number three seed Ryan Mullan.
Tyrone is also well represented in the 17 and under boys with Pol Clarke, Patrick Mc Crory and Gavin Mc Crystal all competing. Mc Crystal will be looking to have another chance at Irish number one seed Darren Doherty after narrowly losing out to him last weekend in the Golden gloves final.
Tyrone will be hoping for success in the 13 and under event with two great performers in Ronan Mc Kay and Sean Kerr. Due to a fantastic season last year, Sean carries the number one seeding and here’s hoping for an all Tyrone final!
In the 15 and under girls, Tyrone will be well represented by last year’s All Ireland under 14 doubles champs Aoife Kelly and Maeve Mc Elduff. Maeve carries the number one seeding and having performed well in the Irish one wall championships, she won’t be far away come finals day on Sunday.
Having been a great success since its introduction last year, there will be an 11 and under doubles competition for boys and girls. A lot of eyes will be watching this section closely to see the future stars of Irish handball and Tyrone have several very promising entries:
Dara Curran/Caolan McCartan (L’macrory/Brackey)
Lorcan McBride/Cormac Munroe (Carrickmore)
Padraig Begley/Darragh Canavan (Carrickmore)
Ronan Curran/Anton Fox (Loughmacrory)
Dearbhla Coleman/Ciara Mullan (Clann Eireann/Carrickmore)
Aideen Curran/Caitlin Conway (Loughmacrory)
Michaela McCartan/Emer Kerr (Brackey)

Competition begins on Sat at 10am and Finals scheduled for Sunday at 2pm. Stay tuned for latest updates!!
