Feile Feast of Football
Thursday 23.04.2015
This week saw a real feast of football at u-14 level in the county with titles up for grabs in both boys’ and girls’ competitions. Killeeshil came out on top on Tuesday evening when they defeated Sperrin Og in the Girls’ final (further details to follow).
Wednesday night saw Grades 1, 3 and 4 conclude at Garvaghey while Grade 2 was decided at Galbally with Ardboe lifting the title there.
Castlederg and Clan na Gael made it through to the Grade 4 final for a North Tyrone derby. Harry Brennan’s boys prevailed 0-7 to 0-2 but they were indebted to goalkeeper Anton Lynch whose heroics denied the Clan lads on more than one occasion. Owen Mc Callion, Adam Treanor, Shea Devlin, Odhran Harvey and Charlie Mooney also played key roles in their title win.
Clonoe and Killeeshil qualified for the Grade 3 final following wins over Greencastle and Aghyaran respectively. Clonoe captain Shane Conlan starred once again hitting 2-10 of his team’s 4-17 total as the O’Rahilly’s enjoyed a thirteen point win over their opponents. Killeeshil battled hard throughout with Michael O’Neill (2-2), Cormac Skeffington and Cathal Rafferty on target for the St Mary’s. Joe Hagan, Daniel O’Neill, Ciaran Magee and Shea Coney were others to find the target for the winners.
Dungannon Clarkes renaissance continued at youth level as they lifted the Grade One Feile title following a 4-8 to 0-2 win over a talented and highly rated Carrickmore side. The Clarkes had enjoyed a comprehensive win over Cappagh in their semi while Carrickmore accounted for Omagh.
The final saw a very talented Dungannon side maintain the momentum from their semi final win with Cormac Hughes, Jamie Comac, Aaron Kerr and Sean Cowan contibuting handsomely to their side’s win.
Well done to all involved in the smooth running of this very worthwhile competition and congratulations to all the winners.
