Coalisland bowed out of the Ulster Club on Saturday evening when they lost out to Crossmaglen at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh. It was a cracking game from start to finish with both sides ending up with thirteen men. It was a game were the sides were level on seven occasions before the Armagh men pulled away in the closing moments.

The sides shared the opening four points through Johnny McKeever, Bailey Leonrad, Paddy McNiece and Micheal McNamee. Crossmaglen then moved two clear thanks to efforts from Rian O’Neill and Stephen Morris before Coalisland were dealt a double blow within seconds of each other when Brian Toner picked up a second yellow and Eoghan Hampsey a straight red. They rallied though with a couple of McNiece frees before a placed ball from O’Neill left it 0-6 to 0-5 at the interval.

The superb Stephen McNally levelled matters in the first attack of the second half with a wonder score from out on the left wing before a McNiece free edged them in front. Crossmaglen lost Callum Cumiskey to a second yellow  and after Peter Donnelly made a great save to deny Johnny Hanratty the latter was also dismissed for a second booking. McNiece and a superb Oisin O’Neill effort saw the sides level again before the latter put the Armagh champions in front.

Oisin O’Neill then hit another great score before his brother Rian got a seventh and a 4th from play. McNiece had the final say for the Fianna, his 8th all from play, but Crossmaglen went through on a 0-12 to 0-10 scoreline.
