Coalisland are through to the quarter finals of the senior championship after a convincing 2-11 to 0-7 victory over Greencastle at Plunkett Park in Pomeroy. The Fianna will now play Ardboe in the last eight while Greencastle are officially relegated from Division one after finishing bottom of the table.

Sean Corr opened the scoring for the Fianna in the 5th minute and from the next kick out they turned the ball over for Bailey Leonard to hit the net. That stung Greencastle into action though and they were level by the 20th minute thanks to a Mark Carson brace after Shane Coyle and Sean Warnock had both registered. Two frees from GO POWER man of the match Tiernan Quinn then gave Coalisland a lead that they were never to lose and after Warnock and Corr had traded points it was 1-4 to 0-5 at the interval.

Cormac O’Hagan opened the second half scoring from a “45” before it was effectively game over in the 41st minute when Michael McKernan and Paddy McNeice combined to play the ball to Quinn who coolly side stepped Greencastle keeper Dara McDermott to plant the ball into an empty net. Quinn scored from play as well as from a free and while Carson replied with a Greencastle brace it was the Fianna who closed the game out with two scores from Leonard either side of one from substitute Plunkett Kane.
