Coalisland 0-10 Carrickmore 0-9

Coalisland are into the semi finals of the LCC Senior championship after winning an epic clash with Carrickmore at Pearse Park in Galbally on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides served up a great battle despite the heavy rain with the Fianna just getting over the line to set up a last four clash with Errigal Ciaran. It took seven minutes for the first score of the game to arrive with man of the match Cormac O’Hagan knocking over a free. Rory Donnelly levelled matters from a placed ball before O’Hagan put the Fianna in front from a free as well. The rest of the half though belonged to Carrickmore as they began to get on top. Midfielder Jonny Monroe blasted over before full forward Daniel Fullerton weighed in with a trio of eye catching points. Sandwiched in between was a score from full back Sean Loughran as the St.Colmcilles greeted the short whistle 0-6 to 0-2 in front.

Coalisland were dealt a blow five minutes into the second half when they lost Paddy McNeice to a black card. They rolled up their sleeves though and by the time they were back to a full compliment of players they were only a point in arrears. Plunkett Kane and Cormac O’Hagan [2] were on target with Ciaran Daly responding with a free for Carrickmore before Brian Toner levelled matters with a dozen minutes left on the clock.

The Fianna then got their noses in front when a good ball from Tiarnan Quinn found O’Hagan who got out in front of a couple of Carrickmore defenders to take a quality score with his weaker right foot. Carrickmore substitute Ruairi Loughran levelled matters but back came Coalisland with O’Hagan nailing a free from fully fifty five metres out. O’Hagan then turned provider for Quinn to kick a brilliant score from an acute angle out on the left wing with what proved to be the winning point.
