Fintona Pearses showed clearly on Friday night at Healy Park just why they are many people’s favourites to win the Tyrone Junior Championship. Led by diminutive corner forward and the Go Fuels Teamtalk man of the match Conor Mc Gillion they conceded the first score of the game to Ryan Baxter as a much changed Drumragh side appeared up for the challenge early on.

However that was as good as it got for the Sarsfields. Fintona reeled them in and eased to a 2-19 to 0-10 win and established themselves as clear favourites for the title.

Veteran of the side Aaron Mc Carney converted a brace of points in the sixth minute to put his side 0-2 to 0-1 in front and from there until the end Fintona never looked back. The favourites produced some superb football to reach the break 1-9 to 0-4 ahead with Jared Brogan, Oran Hughes, Peter Colton, Paudi Goodman and Diarmuid Martin all on target with a well worked team goal on twenty six minutes the best score of the first half.

Drumragh looked all at sea as a ravenous Pearses side outworked them all over the pitch. Their other first half scores came from Kian Murphy and a two pointer from Tommy Mullin.

Fintona maintained the pace throughout the second half and although Drumragh did add a further six points to their total the comeback that was required never looked on. On what was a disappointing day for the Clanabogan side only Niall Mc Carney, Ronan Maguire, Kieran Murphy and Lorcan Mc Grath managed to trouble the umpires.

The winners were relentless throughout with Mc Gillion finishing up with 1-6 and second half points from Eugene Colton and Caolan Donnelly. The final score line of 2-19 to 0-10 in no way flattered Fintona as they made it through to the last four with more than a bit to spare.
