Tyrone manager Mickey Harte joined a large group of interested locals at Fintona Golf Club for the draw for the “Celtic Cross Golf Challenge” which will take place on Saturday September 23rd .

Fintona Pearses are currently celebrating their centenary this year and as part of those celebrations they have organised a unique golf competition which will see 26 teams compete at the local course. Each four-ball team is made up of three locals and one all Ireland winner.

On Friday night Mickey Harte joined the club chairman Pat Mc Atee, Aaron Mc Dermott of main sponsor Tyrone Fabrications and committee members as the draw for the placing of the Celtic Cross winners took place.

With names like Peter Canavan, Eoin Kelly (Tipp hurler), Jack Sheedy former Dublin midfielder, Damian Barton ex Derry manager, Anthony Tohill Derry, Greg Blaney Down and the legend that is the Mourne County’s Sean O’Neill all participating there was considerable interest in the draw.

This very original format of competition is sure to draw a large crowd to the Tyrone venue which should help raise the profile of the club and increase awareness of the Michaela Foundation.

All twenty six teams will have been informed of their starting tee positions and the Celtic Cross winner who completes their team. The first thirteen teams will tee off at 9:00am and the second set at 2:00pm. It promises to be a unique day in local sport.
