Fintona Pearses launched their annual club golf competition on Monday and even by the standards of a club that knows how to come up with original ideas, this one was a bit special.

The club is celebrating its centenary this year which in itself is a hugely significant milestone. However to make it even more noteworthy the club has come up with a highly original format for their competition and has chosen The Michaela Foundation as the main beneficiary.

The main sponsors of the event Tyrone Fabrication were represented by Aaron and Anton Mc Dermott. Also in attendance for the launch were All Ireland winners Peter Canavan and Greg Blaney of Down, Tyrone manager  Mickey Harte and Pat Mc Atee Chairman of Fintona Pearses.

Each team of four will consist of three local golfers plus one celebrity All Ireland winner from either Football or Hurling. The Celtic Cross Three Man competition will see twenty six teams out on the Fintona course on the 23rd of September and is sure to be a hugely successful event.

Prior to the competition the club will host a special draw to determine which All Ireland Celtic Cross winners will line out with the various teams of local players. That will be held in the club house at Fintona Golf Club on Friday the 15th of September and will be broadcast live on Teamtalkmag radio.

We wish the club and The Michaela Foundation every success in their endeavours and look forward to keeping you updated on its progress.
