Fintona Pearses are through to the Division Three play off decider following their three point win over Glenelly on Saturday afternoon. They will now meet local rivals and neighbours Drumragh who defeated Aghaloo after extra time in their semi final to set up this intriguing pairing.

The Pearses squandered a host of early chances as Glenelly frustrated Fintona with their well organised and very effective defensive set up. Points from Conor Mc Gillion and Peter Mc Glynn eventually had Fintona in front before Seamus Harkin hit his first score of the day. Harkin and Cathal Starrs swapped points and Fintona made it 0-5 to 0-3 with points from Niall Murray and Starrs again. Two converted Harkin frees and another Peter Mc Glynn point sent the sides off at the break with Fintona leading by two 0-6 to 0-4.

Fintona began the second half with a well taken Pauric Kelly score only to see Harkin convert his fifth free to keep his side in it. The Pearses made it a four point game with scores from Peter Mc Glynn and Conor Mc Goldrick before Glenelly got their first score of the day from play with a Ronan O’Kane effort ten minutes into the second half.

As the game entered the final quarter Jared Brogan got on the end of a fine Fintona move to slide the ball past Cormac Mc Connell in the Glenelly goals and suddenly there was clear daylight between the teams. Conor Mc Gillion and Peter Mc Glynn pointed to extend the Fintona lead to eight. Once again Seamus Harkin reduced the deficit with a converted free before Peter Mc Glynn made it an eight point game once more. Fintona lost Paul Martin to a black card  and conceded a late 1-1 to Glenelly scoring ace Seamus Harkin but they were deserving winners on the day and can now look forward to their playoff game with Drumragh Sarsfields.
