Minor Championship

This weekend sees all 4 Minor Championship Finals down for decision. What way will they go?

Fri 1st June 7.30pm in Edendork
Grade 1 Final
Aodh Ruadh v Cill Iseal

Both teams had relatively straightforward paths to the final, with Cill Iseal defeating Omagh St Endas in the quarter finals and Ardboe in the semi finals while Aodh Ruadh overcame St Dympnas and St Macartans in their previous championship outings this year. The 2 teams have met in numerous finals throughout the age groups during the past few years and know each other inside out at this stage. Cill Iseal were the winners in the minor league fixture back in March. However this game could go either way on the night with plenty of talent on show from both teams.

Sat 2nd June 11am in Dunmoyle
Grade 4 Final
Mna na Deirge v Moy

Again, this should prove to be a close encounter. 4 points was the difference in the league game back at the beginning of March in Mna na Derige’s favour. Both teams have put in a lot of training and effort since then with Mna na Deirge defeating Sigersons in the preliminary round of the championship and then Urney in the semi final.  Moy proved too strong for Badoney in their semi final game. Both teams are on course for a minor double, with a league final still to play after this weekend.

Sat 2nd June 4.30pm in Loughmacrory
Grade 2 Final
Cappagh v An Charraig Mhor

Cappagh emerged from their semi final against Fr Rocks with only 3 points to spare, whilst An Charraig Mhor were 6 point winners over Glenelly in their semi final. Cappagh are sure to go into this as favourites having won all their games to date this season and also having defeated An Charraig Mhor in the first league game of the season. However, An Charraig Mhor have grown stronger as the season progressed with 6 wins from the last 6 games played and are not to be underestimated. Cappagh have a league title still to play for whereas it’s all or nothing for An Charraig Mhor.

Sun 3rd June 6pm in Fintona
Grade 3 Final
Rock v Aghyaran

Rock defeated Edendork in the quarter final outing with only a goal to spare, they then had a convincing win over Drumragh in the semi final. Aghyaran came past Beragh in their quarter final and were too strong for Kildress in the semi final. Rock have only lost 1 game all year and also defeated Aghyaran in the league fixture. However the Aghyaran girls always raise their game for the championship and this is one game they will surely be out to win. Regardless how this one turns out Rock also have a derby league final game against Pomeroy to look forward to.
