FUNDRAISER | Colour Marathon PODCAST
Tuesday 08.09.2015
The Carrickmore Rainbow Gateway Club is a community based club that supports adults with learning disabilities. It has taken on this project of organising a Colour marathon within Carrickmore as a challenge for it’s club members. The Mary Anderson Foundation is inspired by the life of Mary Anderson. It supports local good causes relating to child welfare, education and care giving. Towards the end of 2014 Philip Anderson lost his dearly beloved mother and wife in the space of one week. Philip, wanted to do something to remember the people he loved so much in a way that was fitting. For his wife, in particular, she had suffered illness for the last few years of her young life and Philip felt that every day had been a marathon for her. So Philip decided he was going to run a marathon every week of 2015. At the time, many of his friends thought this was a fad or a phase. To date (16th August 2015) , true to his word, Philip has ran 36 marathons!!
On Monday night we dropped into The Patrician Hall in Carrickmore to help launch this unique event. Listen back to the night on the podcast below.
