Galbally were well on their way to victory in the first of this afternoon’s Power NI Championship matches in Loughmacrory. Declan Murphy notched up five points from play for the Pearses in the opening 30 minutes. He has been well backed up by James Lennon and Paul Rafferty who have three points apiece.
Strabane only managed to score once from play, a goal from Aaron McLaughlin following a defensive mistake from Blaine Nugent. John McLaughlin has scored all three of Strabane’s points from frees.
Patrick Rafferty, Declan Rafferty, Paul Rafferty and Damien McCrory were all on target for Galbally inside the first 7 minutes of the restart to extend Galbally’s advantage to 14 points.
Fifteen minutes into the second half and further scores from Mickey Murphy and Aidan Carberry have pushed Galbally well beyond Strabane. JP Gallagher opened the Strabane scoring 12 minutes into the half with a free. Strabane to their credit could have scored a second goal but were denied by a superb Michael Corr save in the Calbally goals.
Both goalkeepers were called into action and produced brilliant saves inside the closing ten minutes. JP Gallagher scored Strabane’s final point as Galbally cruised into the Quarter Final draw tomorrow night with a very convincing 0-21 to 1-5 victory. The Murphy brothers kicked 0-9 between them, Mickey 0-3 and Declan 0-6 all from play.
