Gavin The New Leader In Division Two
Thursday 23.08.2012
There is a new leader at the top of the Begleys Sports division two league scoring charts as Derrytresk’s Niall Gavin shows that he is more than a match for anyone in this division after plying his trade in Junior football up until this year. He is five points clear of nearest rival and defending champion Kevin Mossey and crucially he can increase that advantage this weekend with Derrytresk playing in a rearranged league game with Clann na Gael. Gareth Devlin may have missed a number of games due to a suspension but he has showed his quality to break the fifty point barrier and move up to third place. Hot on his heels and just a point behind him is Galbally’s Paul Rafferty and he will hope to close the gap this weekend when the Pearses travel to play Augher in another rearranged game. Augher’s Jamie Donnelly and Pomeroy’s Justin McCaffery can also add to their tallies this weekend with the Plunketts facing Moy so the leader board could well change shape again come Sunday evening.
