Gormley Confident Of Being Fit.

Tyrone’s win against Longford on Saturday night was just what the doctor ordered in terms of getting their championship campaign back on track. It was a very convincing second half display from the whole team with some of the young guns in particular stepping up to the mark with excellent individual performances. The only cloud on the horizon was the injury suffered by Conor Gormley that resulted in the Carrickmore defender having to leave the field with ten minutes of the game still to play.

It did not look too good at the time but Conor is confident the injury will not cause him to miss much of the action.” It’s still a bit sore alright but I will meet with the physio this evening and we will get a closer look at it then and see how it is. I have a bit more movement in it now than I had at the end of the game so hopefully another few days and it should be grand”. The centre back was delighted with Saturday’s result and had special praise for some of the younger lads on the team.” Petey Harte hit some great points and worked hard and Mark Donnelly showed well all night while Aidan Cassidy caught some great balls in a very crowded midfield”.

With the draw made for the next round Conor is delighted with how it has worked out for Tyrone because it gives himself and some of the other players carrying knocks additional time for recuperation. “Aye the draw has worked out well because it means we are at home which is great but the extra week will give Hub and Stevie O’Neill a chance to get extra recovery time. Whoever we play, Armagh or Wicklow will be difficult but we are just glad to be through”.
