The Power NI Intermediate Championship Quarter Finals on Friday night produced contrasting performances from the two games. Cookstown showed just why they are everyone’s favourites for the title with a comprehensive win over Loughmacrory. In spite of playing without talisman forward Owen Mulligan the Fr Rocks produced a mature display with Jason Quinn, Martin Murray, Stevie Monaghan, Shea Mc Garrity and James Mc Gahan contributing handsomely to their team’s win.
Gortin were made fight all the way by a Galbally side who endured the loss of their top players Paul Rafferty and Micky Murphy but showed fantastic character to take the lead deep in injury time through Ronan Hagan only to see Kevin Mossey send over the levelling score with time almost up. It was an entertaining game between two evenly matched sides and on the balance of play a draw was certainly a fair result.
