Ardboe 4-11 Trillick 2-14

Ardboe went into the grade one U14 League Final against Trillick on Saturday morning as underdogs but the young Rossas didn’t read the script with a fine display to emerge worthy winners in a cracking contest at Carrickmore.

The Loughshore lads led 2-8 to 0-9 at the break with their goals coming from Conall Morgan and Eoin Canavan with Ruairi O’Neill, Canavan, Naoise Quinn and Davin McKeown among the points, Liam Corry, Nathan Farry and Eoin Ratchford on target for the St.Macartans.

Quinn bagged two goals in the opening ten minutes of the second half but either side of those strikes Ardboe had keeper Cormac Coney to thank for two excellent saves. Farry got a Trillick goal and with four minutes to go the same player converted a penalty. Points from Charlie McNulty, Farry and Corry reduced the deficit to the minimum before keeper Coney made another superb save. Ardboe regrouped and points from McKeown and Quinn saw them emerge victorious after a thriller. The game was well refereed by up and coming whistler Martin Coyle from Cookstown.
