Brackaville Owen Roes 2-14 Urney St.Columbas 0-14

Brackaville had a convincing win over Urney in their Grade Three Minor Championship Final in Killyclogher in a game that saw the wind play a key role in the outcome. Urney had dominated the first half in terms of scores and led 0-8 to 0-3 at the break with with Sean Mc Gowen, Plunkett Langan and Jonah Lafferty responsible for most of their side’s scores. Indeed Mc Gowen rattled the crossbar juts on the stroke of half time and a goal at that stage would have had a major bearing on the game. Having said that Brackaville missed their fair share of chances during the opening thirty minutes the most notable being a penalty miss by Martin Gervin. In fairness to Gervin his shot was excellently saved by Urney goalkeeper Ciaran Lafferty who had a great game for his team throughout.

When the sides emerged for the second half Brackaville, who had made several switches during the break, went into overdrive from the off and by the eighth minute were level with scores from Martin Gervin, Tiernan Mc Glinchey, Rian Mc Hugh and Dale Mc Sorley. A fine goal from Che O’Donnell put the Owen Roes in a strong position athat they never relinquished. Martin Gervin and Rian Mc Hugh were dominating the outfield exchanges and with O’Donnell and Mc Glinchey finding lots of space in the Urney defence the scores mounted and Brackaville went on to record a deserved 2-14 to 0-14 win.
