Grade Two Championship Win For Glenelly Ladies.
Glenelly emerged victorious over a feisty Ardboe side in the Grade Two Ladies Minor Championship following a titanic battle between two very evenly matched sides. Ardboe started the game well and by half time looked well placed for the win as they led by three points. Indeed the Lough Shore girls maintained their lead and control of the game for most of the second half as well and with ten minutes remaining there seemed no way back for Glenelly. With time very much against them Glenelly continued to push forward when they were awarded a free kick close to goal. Up stepped top scorer Eva Hicks to hammer a bullet like twenty metre shot to the net to draw Glenelly level with Ardboe for the first time since the opening minutes of the first half. This goal had a devastating effect on Ardboe as the Glenelly girls surged forward and pressed in every area of the pitch to win possession. Their reward came once again through Eva Hicks as great support play by her team mates created the time and space for the ace forward to kick a fine point to leave Glenelly the victors by the slimmest of margins.
Full time score Glenelly 1.9 to Ardboe 3.2.
Scorers for Glenelly Eva Hicks 1.7, Siobhan Sheerin 0.2.
