Minor All Ireland Championship v Wicklow

After a disappointing loss to Armagh in Ulster, the minors made the long journey to Aughrim at the weekend to kick off their All-Ireland campaign.

Emer Cunningham began the scoring with a point which was quickly followed by a free from Wicklow’s key performer Aishling O’Toole. Tyrone travelled with plenty of talent available and the entire defence, assisted by Sienna Gildernew in goals, ensured that they had the majority of possession. While Wicklow had some chances off target, some great team play allowed Cunningham, Eva Cullen and free-taker Catherine Moohan to land the all important points and it was Rhianne McLoughlin who hit the net for the visitors.

Half time Tyrone 1-8 Wicklow 1-4

Wicklow came back strongly in the second half but Tyrone showed the strength and depth in the squad and took some excellent scores in the second half. The management were happy with the effort and skills the team displayed and will be hoping for a repeat performance in Omagh this weekend against Mayo.
