Tyrone Hurlers produced an excellent team display to defeat Louth and make it two wins from two in the National League.

Once again Damian Casey proved his worth to the team with some fantastic scores but this was no one man show as Mattie Lennon’s side worked their socks off all over the field.

An impressive opening quarter saw them establish a seven point lead as Casey hit six and Bryan Mc Gurk landed the other. Louth were struggling all over the field and when Casey hit the net on sixteen minutes it was clear this game was only going one way.

Eventually Louth found their rhythm and a Darren Geoghegan goal and points from David Kettle, Gerard Mc Keown and Geoghegan helped them establish a foothold in the game.

However when the half time whistle sounded Tyrone led 1-11 to 1-5 with Ciaran Lagan and Tiernan Morgan also among the points.

Tyrone continued where they left off after the break. Goalkeeper Conor Mc Elhatton, defenders Jarlath Kerr, Ruairi Devlin and Chris Kearns and midfielders Ryan Mc Kernan and Conor Mc Nally ensured things remained tight at the back while a steady supply of ball to the forwards was maintained.

Ryan Mc Kernan produced a superb second half with an outstanding goal and several high quality points as Tyrone eased to a 2-22 to 1-11 win.

As for Louth this will be a game they might want to forget as they were second best all over the park. Kettle, Geoghegan and David Stephenson were the “Wee County’s” most committed performers.

Tyrone scorers: Damian Casey 1-10, Ryan Mc Kernan 1-4, Tiernan Morgan 0-4, Ciaran Lagan 0-2, Bryan Mc Gurk 0-1, Chris Kearns 0-1.
