National League Tyrone v Mayo March 2023

The last time these two sides met was in the 2021 Nancy Murray Cup final when Mayo came away with the silverware. This time around the outcome was slightly different.

In the first minute of the game Lara Devlin passed the ball to the recently returned from injury Reagan Fay, who took the first score.  Tyrone however were unable to build on their promising start as the home side quickly gained the upper hand. Hannah Tener, on her home turf, hit the net from a rebound.

In a physical game in very slippy conditions, the teams swapped points before Tyrone enjoyed something of a purple patch with great work in defence from Meghan Clarke, Aoife McDonald and Bronagh Barker, Aoibhinn Daly in midfield and Devlin in forwards.

Against the run of play somewhat Mayo once again took control thanks to an Emer Delaney goal. Tyrone showed great maturity and patience and fired over a further five points before the break.

Half time Tyrone 0-10, Mayo 2-2

Tyrone demonstrated a much more fluid team performance this week and while goal bound efforts were stopped by the impressive keeper, the Red Hands continued to push forward. Twenty minutes in Mayo levelled the scores again but Tyrone seemed to have plenty left in the tank and kept calm and composed to end with a four point victory.
