Fintona travelled to table toppers Brackaville today more in hope than expectation but got off to good start, 3 up within 7 minutes courtesy of an Aaron Mc Carney free and 2 points from Thomas Mc Grath. Brackaville then fired over 6 in a row between 8 and 23 minutes – 3 from Sean Corr (1free), 2 from Martin Gervin and 1 from Joe Rafferty. A goal from Aaron Mc Carney on 24 minutes tied the game up but Brackaville finished the half a point ahead after Ciaran Gervin pointed from a free. Brackaville had stretched their lead to 5 within 12 minutes as Che O’Donnell (2 frees), Ciaran Currie and Rian Mc Hugh all pointed. Aaron Mc Carney pointed 2 Fintona frees, with a Joe Rafferty point for Brackaville in between. In a very disjointed last 5 minutes, which became 10 due to a succession of Brackaville injuries, Che O’Donnell pointed 3 times whilst Jason Donnelly, Aaron Mc Carney and Thomas Mc Grath had points for Fintona. Final score – Brackaville 0-16, Fintona 1-8.
Clogher defeated Glenelly today with a fine performance that saw Daire Kavanagh score seven points for his side while Mark Bogue 1-4 and Paul Tierney 1-1 were also on target for the winners in a 2-14 to 1-9 win. Seamy Harkin 0-5, Johnny Mc Cullagh 1-1 top scored for Glenelly. Tattyreagh travelled to Fintona for their home game with Castlederg today and enjoyed a very one sided 6-16 to 0-7 win. An early goal from Kevin Gallagher gave the Tatts the perfect start and further goals from Chris Mc Carroll and Sean Cartin extended their lead. Rory Mc Donagh and Barry Montgomery also found the net as the home side ran out comfortable winners.
Dungannon kept the pressure on Brackaville with a 2-16 to 0-8 win over a disappointing Drumquin side. The home team were seven clear at the break leading 1-7 to 0-3 with their first half goal coming from Conor Mc Nulty. The second half continued in a similar vein with Anthony Burns also hitting the net while Patrick Quinn and Keifer Morgan scored several fine points for the winners. Drumquin failed to trouble a resolute Clarkes team who finished easy winners. Ryan Mc Callion, Eamon Teague, Paul Sheridan and Frankie Mc Alynn got points for the Wolfe Tones.
Beragh and Dregish served up an entertaining and close game this afternoon as an Eddie Molloy first half goal proved crucial in deciding the final result. The Red Knights led 1-5 to 0-5 at the break and held on to win by four in the end 1-10 to 0-9. Martin Rodgers top scored with 0-5 for his side, Eddie Molloy hit 1-1 while Paul Owens, Chrissy Devlin and Niall Owens also found the target. Mark Catterson hit three of his team’s points while Stephen Sweeney, Cathal Rodgers, Martin Bonnar, Peter Mc Crossan and Eamon Mc Govern also scored for Dregish.
