🏆 Tyrone Ladies Charity Doubles Day Raises Over £2,300 for Worthy Cause 💗
Tyrone Handball hosted a hugely successful Ladies Charity Doubles Tournament at Breacach Handball Club, bringing together a fantastic mix of players for a day of sport, fun and fundraising.
The unique doubles competition saw players paired at random on the morning of the event, creating an inclusive and enjoyable format that blended experienced competitors with newcomers to the game.
The 14 participating teams were divided into four groups, with each team playing all others within their group, ensuring plenty of action and a fair opportunity for all.
From the outset, the courts were filled with energy, laughter and competitive spirit. While the emphasis remained firmly on enjoyment and participation, there was no shortage of quality handball on display throughout the day.

The tournament culminated in an entertaining final between Lisa Melley and Catherine Kelly of Loughmacrory and the pairing of Eilise McCrory (Breacach) and Carol McKeown (Corduff). In a well-contested decider, the Loughmacrory duo emerged victorious after a strong performance.
Off the court, the event was equally impressive. The venue was transformed with vibrant pink decorations in support of the chosen charity, with Indulge in Fudge providing eye-catching balloon pillars and arches. A beautifully hand-painted banner by Roisin McGovern (Lady McGov) added a special personal touch to the occasion.
The raffle proved to be a major highlight of the day, with an outstanding array of prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters. Contributions continued to arrive even on the day itself, reflecting the strong community backing for the event.
Participants were exceptionally well catered for, with McCallan Bonded providing an impressive selection of refreshments including sandwiches, a beautifully presented cheeseboard and a variety of pastries and treats.
Additional catering was kindly supplied by Farley’s.
Tyrone Handball extended sincere thanks to Paula and Michelle for their dedication in organising the event, as well as to referees Niall and Seamie for officiating throughout the day. Appreciation was also expressed to Breacach Handball Club for the use of their excellent facilities.
Most importantly, gratitude was extended to all players and supporters whose involvement made the event such a success.
The day concluded with a remarkable total of £2,310 and €50 raised for charity, highlighting the generosity and community spirit within Tyrone Handball.
Overall, it was a memorable occasion — combining sport, social enjoyment and fundraising — and a fitting example of handball at its very best.
