The continued comprehensive period of action continues in Tyrone GAA Handball circles in the week ahead as the annual County Convention, County Championship Finals, Juvenile Doubles Championships and a number of Ulster Adult Championship finals take centre-stage…

Tyrone GAA Handball Convention
The annual Tyrone GAA Handball Convention will go ahead in Beragh Red Knight’s GAA Club this coming Tuesday 2nd February 2016 at 8pm.
Information regarding nominations and Clár for the evening have been issued to all club and you can read below the Review of the past twelve months, which was a most successful one for the O’Neill County.

Tyrone GAA Handball Singles Championship Finals
This week will see the climax to the Tyrone GAA Handball Adult Singles Championships with the finals across a number of key grades. All eyes will be on Beragh on Wednesday evening as the Mens Open Senior Singles Championship will top the bill at 8pm. Breacach Club will be guaranteed the honours in 2016 with Shane O’Neill, who defeated Darragh Daly in an 11-10 tie-break semi final, bidding for a fourth title. He meets Conor McElduff who just completed three-in-a-row in the Tyrone Premier League but who still chases the “Hugh Duff Memorial Cup” for the first time, having lost out in the last two finals.
Also this week will be the Junior Singles and Junior B Singles Championship Finals while Carrickmore’s Ciaran Cuddy secured the first of the Adult titles last weekend when winning the Senior B Singles Championship crown. The Masters Singles Championship Final is next week with the Doubles Championships also getting underway.
At JUVENILE Level, the doubles championships will start this weekend and the Juvenile B Singles Championships commence on Saturday 27th February 2016.

Ulster & All Ireland GAA Handball Championships

The Ulster GAA Handball 40×20 Championships are now well underway across the province with the action now at the Final stages in most singles categories. Meanwhile the All Ireland Adult 40×20 Doubles Championship semi finals are planned, again with Ulster  Connacht, on Sunday 10th April 2016. The All Ireland doubles championship finals are down for Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd April 2015.

  • All Ireland Adult Singles 40×20 Championship Semi Finals: Sunday 6th March 2016 (Ulster v Connacht)
  • All Ireland Adult Singles 40×20 Championship Finals: Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th March 2016, in Kingscourt
  • All Ireland Adult Doubles 40×20 Championship Semi Finals: Sunday 10th April 2016 (Ulster v Connacht)
  • All Ireland Adult Doubles 40×20 Championship Finals: Friday 22nd April & Saturday 23rd April 2016, in Venues in Kilkenny, Laois and Carlow

The All Ireland Juvenile 40×20 Championship semi finals are down for decision (again with Ulster v Connacht and Munster v Leinster) on Sunday 6th March 2016 with the All Ireland Juvenile 40×20 Finals on Sunday 20th March in Kingscourt.

  • All Ireland Juvenile 40×20 Championship Semi Finals: Sunday 6th March 2016 – Ulster v Connacht
  • All Ireland Juvenile 40×20 Championship Finals: Sunday 20th March 2016, in Kingscourt

Following completion of the championships will be the Irish Junior 40×20 Nationals Finals Weekend on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th April with the Adult 40×20 Nationals returning for the first time in two years to be played on Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May 2016.

Tyrone Clubs to host major National Club Tournaments

The latest GAA Handball Ireland Clár has been released by Croke Park with two major Tournaments announced for Tyrone in 2016.

The “Paddy Grogan Memorial – Juvenile 40×20 Invitational” is organised by the Carrickmore GAA Handball Club every two years and is a fantastic event highlighting and promoting the future stars of the sport in the 40×20 court. In 2016 the Tournament will be staged from May 13th – 15th. Further details to follow.

The 3rd Annual “Lough 1Wall Showdown” Tournament in Loughmacrory will revert to it’s normal August slot (changed in 2015 due to the Worlds) and is expected to see another huge entry with big plans again by the Loughmacrory club for the event. It will be staged from Friday 12th-Sunday 14th August 2016
