Hard Working Win For Under 20 Hurlers
Sunday 08.02.2026
Tyrone under 20s produced an excellent second half display on Saturday at Garvaghy to defeat a highly fancied Wicklow 1-15 to 2-11.
A late point deep in injury time from centre back Francie Hurson almost on the full time whistle was what divided the teams at the end, This was a really competitive fixture with both teams trading scores throughout before Hurson stepped up and struck the winner..

The first half saw Wicklow create the better chances but the industry and endeavour of the Tyrone half back line in particular reduced the opportunities for opposition scores. Strong defence from Hurson, Cathal Cunningham and Senan Munroe kept chances to a minimum and the visitors reached the break leading 1-4 to 0-6.

The second half saw Wicklow on top early on but the Tyrone defence once more weathered the storm. Rory Woods, Liam Griffiths, Pierce Mullin and Fiachra Mc Grath carried the fight to their opponents. The rest of the teams responded to their leadership and with time almost up took the game courtesy of a late point from Fiachra Mc Grath. Back came Wicklow to equalise but Tyrone dug deep and Francie Hurson pointed to take the win and claim the points on a final score of 1-15 to 2-11.
