His managerial career with Tyrone may have come to an end but on Friday Mickey Harte was back at the coal face as he was introduced to the Louth media as the new manager of the county’s senior football team.

After eighteen years of unprecedented success with his native county the Errigal Ciarán man was unable to garner enough support for his request to remain as Tyrone senior manager for one more year. It came as something of a surprise when he was announced as manager of Louth following a County Board meeting on Monday night.

Harte’s number two in Tyrone Gavin Devlin has gone with him and no doubt both men are looking forward to the challenge of taking Louth out of Division Three and at the same time making them a real force in the Leinster championship once more.

Tyrone and Killyclogher native Sean Mc Clean, who is Vice Chairman of the Louth County Board and Chairman of the  of Louth CCC was delighted to welcome his fellow Tyrone men to Darver on Friday as the new management team began their three year stint in charge of the “Wee County”.

We wish Mickey and Gavin every success in their new roles and will be keeping a close eye out for Louth’s results and progress.
