There was heartbreak for St.Patrick’s Academy Dungannon in the Danske Bank MacRory Cup quarter final in Emyvale on Saturday afternoon when they lost to St.Macartan’s Monaghan 2-9 to 2-8. Six days on from Tyrone’s superb smash and grab win in Castlebar this contest had a similar ending. Dungannon were two points up three minutes into injury time when they conceded a penalty which Fearghal McMahon converted. Dungannon had began the game well with Deasun Quinn knocking over a couple of frees as well as slotting home a penalty but they trailed by two points at the break. The Tyrone lads dominated the second half but they missed a number of chances although when Jarlath O’Rourke got their second goal they looked likely winners. Michael Lynn then put them two in front in injury time but they were undone at the end with that late spot kick.
