Errigal Ciaran came close to defeating their great rivals Carrickmore in the Division One All County League semi final on Sunday before losing by a point.
That result means that the destination of the league title and the location of the silverware will be awarded to the winners of this weekend’s league final between two very capable sides Dungannon Thomas Clarkes and Carrickmore.
As far as Errigal are concerned it will now be all systems go in terms of preparation for their All Ireland semi final clash with Dr Crokes of Killarney.
They may of course reflect on their league run and the fact that although they came up short in the semi final they did create a small but significant piece of club history. Lining out on the Errigal panel on Sunday were father and son Barney and Thomas Mullin. Our sources tell us that it is the first time such a thing has happened at senior level in the club.
Although they lost the match, Sunday proved to be a unique occasion for Errigal and both Barney and Thomas. Congratulations to both on this history making achievement.
