Holders Omagh are through to the U21 final but they didn’t get matters their own way against Derrylaughan in a keenly contested encounter at Kildress on Wednesday evening. The St.Endas led 0-6 to 0-4 at the break with Conan Grugan and Shane O’Neill getting all of their points between them, Liam Gervin, Seamus McCann and Shea Coney the Kevin Barrys marksmen. Derrylaughan reduced the deficit on the restart through Ciaran Gervin but in the eighth minute Omagh’s Damian McGloin won a penalty which Mark Sloan converted. Undaunted by that setback though Derrylaughan fought back to get on level terms with points from Fergal McAliskey and the Gervin brothers Ciaran and Liam. By that stage Omagh were down to fourteen men after Micheal Gallagher was straight red carded but they didn’t panic and late frees from Grugan and O’Neill saw them through on a 1-9 to 0-10. Tempers flared in the closing stages with Derrylaughan finishing with fourteen men as well after Ciaran Gervin picked up a straight red card from referee Brian McCallion.
