Holy Trinity’s interest in this season’s Danske Bank MacRory Cup ended at Pairc Esler on Friday afternoon when they lost out to St.Colman’s Newry in a playoff. It was the Down school’s ability to get goals in the final quarter that ultimately proved to be the difference as they won 4-8 to 1-10.

Tiernan Quinn was in superb form for Holy Trinity kicking eight points with midfielder Shane Murphy getting a brace and substitute Tiernan Mackle punching home their goal late on.  It was a goal from full forward Eamon Brown that separated the two sides at the break, 1-7 to 0-7.  A Quinn brace closed the gap to the minimum on the restart but goals in the last quarter from Eoghan Byrne, Andrew Gilmore and defender Patrick Brooks saw St.Colman’s through to a quarter final meeting with Omagh CBS.
