Holy Trinity Cookstown ensured that Tyrone will once again be represented in the Schools Finals on St.Patrick’s Day when they won an epic encounter with St.Columb’s Derry to reach the Danske Bank MacLarnon decider.

With fifteen minutes to go Holy Trinity trailed by half a dozen points but they demonstrated great character and fighting spirit to take the game to extra time. A Conan McLernon goal from the penalty spot coupled with points from David Mulgrew, Paul Donnelly and Caolan Mallaghan saw it finish 1-12 to 2-9 at the end of normal time.

Sean Mortimer and Tomas Carney exchanged scores in the first period of extra time as did Mulgrew and Sean Bradley in the second period. It looked set to finish in a stalemate until Mulgrew and Carney came up with points apiece as Holy Trinity edged the verdict 1-17 to 2-12.
