Holy Trinity Cookstown [holders] 1-11 St.Ciaran’s Ballygawley 0-8
All Ireland Vocational schools champions Holy Trinity Cookstown secured their third Ulster Bank Markey Cup title in a row when they proved too strong for a gallant St.Ciaran’s Ballygawley side in Wednesday’s decider in Omagh.

The holders went into the game as warm favourites against their Tyrone counterparts although it was only in the closing minutes of the game that they managed to pull away from dogged opponents.

Holy Trinity led 0-5 to 0-3 at the break but they should have been further in front as they kicked eight first half wides. Ryan Loughran, James Lowe, James McGahan and David Mulgrew supplied their points with Ryan McAnespie, Ronan Nugent and Mark Kavanagh on target for St.Ciaran’s.

Daryl Magee had the opening score of the second half for Holy Trinity but a brace from McAnespie helped the Ballygawley lads get back on level terms within five minutes of the restart.

Loughran and McGahan then put Holy Trinity two in front but McAnespie responded to set up a tense finish. Holy Trinity though refused to panic with McGahan and Damian Woods both on target before Mulgrew made sure of the victory with a 59th minute major.
