COLLEGE | Holy Trinity Through To Last Four Of MacLarnon Cup

Holy Trinity are through to the semi finals of the Danske Bank MacLarnon Cup after holding of a spirited second half revival from holders Our Lady’s Castleblaney at Tyholland on Saturday afternoon.
Holy Trinity had the wind at their backs in the first half and early points from Tomas Carney and Conan McLernon were followed by a Paul Donnelly goal. As the half wore on McLernon flicked in an opportunist goal before also converting a penalty for a 3-4 to 0-1 interval lead.
The Monaghan lads made a real game of it in the second half as they closed the gap to four points with the outstanding Michael Bannigan in great form. The midfielder weighed in with eight points with Frank Connolly getting a goal. Donnelly though then blasted home his second major while Carney took his personal haul to 0-5 as it finished 4-9 to 1-12.
