Hoy The Hero As Killeeshil Survive
Monday 22.09.2025
Fintona 0-16 Killeeshil 1-14
Tomas Hoy proved to be the hero for Killeeshil when he converted an injury time two point free to preserve Killeeshil’s Intermediate status and send Fintona down to Junior football for 2026. It was a pressure kick and he showed nerves of steel to eect to take the kick from outside the arc instead of kicking an equaliser to force extra time.
Eugene Colton opened the scoring for the hosts Fintona but then Luke Donnelly bagged what proved to be the onmly goal of the game. Aaron McCarney landed eight first half points, including a brace of two pointers from frees, whiler Jared Brogan also got a couple of points for the Pearses. Michael O’Neill and Michael Carty responded for Killeeshil as Fintona led 0-11 to 1-5 at halftime.
Hoy and Eoin Neill were on target as Killeeshil landed the opening four points of the secod half only for Fintona to respond through Cathal Starrs, Conan Hegarty and McCarney. It was nip and tuck with McCarney taking his personal haul to 0-10 and Caolan Donnelly pushing them two clear but Hoy had the final say with that superb conversion.
