Huge Weekend For Omagh And Sperrin Og Ladies
Friday 14.10.2011

This weekend sees two of our ladies teams competing in the semi finals of the Ulster Club Championships with Omagh St Endas taking on Dromintee of Armagh while Sperring Og host Drumlane of Cavan. The Omagh girls of course enjoyed making it all the way to the All Ireland Final in the junior competition last year and will need all that experience as they make the long trek to South Armagh on Sunday. Last day out they started poorly but recovered and inspired by a Michaela O’Neill goal and solid displays from Hayley Ballard and Christiane Hunter, they went on to comfortably defeat Ardtrea in the quarter finals. Although they have one or two injury problems team manager Vinny Mc Cullagh is confident the girls will deliver.
This week they took delivery of a new set of jerseys kindly sponsored by Chris Mc Gale proprietor of The Terrace Bar John Street in Omagh and with such support as this behind them the girls are hopeful of making it to the Ulster Club Intermediate final.
Meanwhile Sperring Og have been preparing quietly for their semi final in the junior competition as they take on unknown opponents Drumlane of Cavan. The Tyrone girls had an epic battle with Faughanvale in their quarter final game before emerging winners after extra time. They will be hoping Shauneen Ferrity, Kim and Amy Mc Cullagh,Eimear Teague and Breige Beggs can reproduce the form they showed in Derry and take the Greencastle girls through to their first Ulster Club Final.
