Tyrone’s preparations for their qualifier game in Longford have been upset with the news that midfielder Kevin Hughes is an injury concern. The Killeeshil clubman was sent off last day out against Donegal but was expected to return for the Pearse Park encounter. Hughes was unable to start against Monaghan in the first round game in Omagh due to a tight hamstring and was forced to sit out Thursday night’s training following what appears to be a recurrence of the same injury. Both himself and Stevie O’Neill are expected to undergo late fitness tests before any decision is taken regarding their participation in this vital fixture.

To lose either one of these two experienced players would be a blow but to lose both would be a major setback to the Tyrone team’s hopes. Should either or both be unavailable players such as Aidan Cassidy, Colm Cavanagh or Martin Penrose would surely come into the reckoning for a starting berth. The game starts at 7:00pm and we will provide match updates as they happen.
