Hurlers Start League Campaign With Win
Sunday 26.01.2020
Tyrone Senior hurlers recovered from a three point half time deficit to get their league campaign off to a winning start against Louth.
The Wee County led 0-12 to 0-9 at half time and indeed extended their lead to 14-9 six minutes after the break. However Tyrone, with Damian Casey, Conor Grogan and Lorcan Devlin leading the way soon began to reel their opponents in. They had drawn level at 0-16 apiece when Tyrone keeper Conor Mc Elhatton made a super save from a penalty.
Inspired by Mc Elhatton’s fine save Tyrone finished strongly to win by five 1-21 to 0-16. Damian Casey top scored with 0-10 while Conor Grogan (1-3), Lorcan Devlin (0-3) and Matthew Mulgrew (0-2) were also on target.
Next up for Mattie Lennon’s side is a derby clash with neighbours Donegal next Sunday in Omagh.
