Tyrone lost out in the Minor Hurling Shield final on Friday in spite of a brave effort that saw them run Donegal close and score three fine goals.

Conor Mc Gettigan got the first of his brace of majors early in the game to put Tyrone four in front. Sadly that was as good as it got for the Red Hands as Donegal showed greater cohesion and scoring threat to fight back and lead after twelve minutes. A goal from Cian Randles and three points from Macauley Carr put Donegal in pole position. Tyrone replied with a goal from Piaras Mc Erlane to tie the game 2-3 to 1-6.

The teams swapped goals again later in the match but it was Donegal that possessed the greater scoring threat with Carr and Cathal Doherty getting the scores to see them through as deserved 3-14 to 3-9 winners.
