Castlederg  travelled to Killyman on Friday evening for one of the longest journeys of the club calendar in Tyrone. The Derg were hoping to maintain their recent good form and seal the win that would take them back to the summit of Division Three.

Sean Meehan won the ball from the throw in before laying it off to Bradley Devine for the midfielder to open the scoring for the Derg. This early score settled the visitors and saw them start the game with confidence. Killyman responded immediately though to level the score but Devine won the kick out for Castlederg before laying the ball off to Mark Corry who sent a rocket to the back of Killyman net for the 1st goal of the game on 11 minutes.

The Derg were really on top as Meehan sent Brian Coyle through for his team’s second goal on 14mins. Corry tagged on another point before Killyman replied with their second point of the match. Stefan Gallen found the net for the Derg’s 3rd goal after great play from Pauric Keys while the Derg defence of Gallen, Harvey, Deery, Lynch, McHugh and Catterson managed to keep Killyman at bay.

The home side finally hit their third point of the half but it was Sean Harper who got the next score from a free on the 23rd minute from all of 35yrds out. Pauric Keys finished the Derg scoring just before the short whistle to leave the halftime score Castlederg 3.4 , Killyman 0.3.

Although Castlederg began the 2nd half with a point it was Killyman who found the net first to give the home team hope. They followed this with a brace of points to reduce the gap to six. Castlederg however maintained their composure scoring with a goal and two points inside the next five minutes to wrestle control of the game back in their favour.

As the game entered the final ten minutes substitute Paddy Porter found the net for the Derg’s 5th major. This was followed by points from Ronan Devine, Porter and Tony Breen before Sean Meehan wrapped it up with his team’s sixth goal of a very impressive display just before the long whistle.

This win took the North Tyrone side clear at the top of the table.

Final score: Castlederg 6-11, Killyman 1-9.
