Impressive Display By Rock

Rock produced a high quality display to make it through to the last eight of the Connolly’s of Moy Intermediate Championship as they saw off the challenge of a disappointing Kildress side at Cookstown on Wednesday evening. Played before a large crowd and on an excellent surface Rock opened the scoring inside the first minute of the game courtesy of Thomas Mackle.
Playing wind assisted Kildress got themselves quickly into the game and after ten minutes led 0-3 to 0-2 with points from Corey Holland, Shea Tracey and Aidan Mc Aleer. Rock responded with points from Peter Loughran and Aidan Mc Garrity before Kildress moved 0-5 to 0-4 ahead midway through the first half.
Rock hit a real purple patch in the second quarter with a brace of two pointers from man of the match Diarmuid Carroll and Liam Nugent. Nugent wrapped up the first half scoring with another fine point in added time to leave the half time score 0-11 to 0-5 in favour of Rock.
The second half saw Rock continue to dominate and when Aidan Mc Garrity converted an eleventh minute penalty to move ten clear there was no way back for Kildress. It took Kildress sixteen second half minutes before they got their first score of the second half and by that time Rock were completely on top. Liam Nugent bagged his team’s second goal of the contest as the game entered the final ten minutes.
Kildress did hit the net twice late in the game courtesy of Shea Quinn and Shea Mullin but by that stage the game as a contest was all but over.
Final Score: Rock 2-17 Kildress 2-9
