Loughmacrory 2-15 Galbally 2-7

Loughmacrory produced a very impressive display at Healy Park on Sunday afternoon to advance to the quarter finals of the Senior championship at the expense of Galbally. The St.Theresas were full value for their victory and their reward is a last eight meeting with Dungannon.

The winners enjoyed a dream start with a goal from Pearse Grimes inside two minutes before fellow defenders Dara Curran and Arnoldas Macidulskas tagged on well taken points. The Pearses though hit back in he 6th minute with a well taken Mark Donnelly goal to open their account. Curran and keeper Oisin O’Kane exchanged points with Conor Donaghy before Go Power man of the match Eoin McElholm notched a brace to leave Loughmacrory 1-8 to 1-3 in front at the break.

McElholm and Donnelly swapped points on the restart before a quality effort from Ruairi McCullagh increased Loughmacrory’s advantage. Galbally were in trouble but they were thrown a lifeline when good work from Darragh Donaghy saw him send in a low cross from the right which Enda McGarrity got on the end of to palm to the net. Joseph Corrigan then landed a point before Donnelly reduced the deficit to the minimum when he fisted over.

Galbally were to score just one more point though as the winners seized control of the game with a superb display of attacking football. McCullagh pointed before McElholm grabbed a brilliant opportunist goal when he capitalised on a poor kickout to lob the ball into an empty net. The winners kicked on with further points from Eoin Donaghy, McElholm and McCullagh to emerge worthy winners, Galbally’s sole response coming from a Kerr free.
