As so often is the case the side that learns the most from a drawn game usually wins the replay and that was certainly the case at Pearse Park in Galbally on Wednesday evening as Pomeroy produced a hugely impressive display to emerge emphatic winners over Brackaville.

The Plunketts emerged 2-17 to 1-6 winners on a night when they could afford the luxury of sixteen wides as they set up a mouth-watering Intermediate championship quarter final meeting with high flying Greencastle. Star of the show for the winners was corner forward Hugh McNamee who top scored with 2-4 to his name with Eunan McCourt [2], Christopher Colhoun [2], Justin McCaffery [3] and Frank Burns [4] making valuable scoring contributions as well.

The Roes had actually led early on through a Paddy Gervin free but after that things went rapidly down hill for them. Gervin did finish with 1-3 to his name with Fergal McCrory and substitute Ryan McElhatton their other marksmen on the night. Pomeroy though had too much all round strength for them on the night with the likes of Hugh Pat McGeary, Brendan Burns, Mark McKenna and Brendan Cunningham all to the fore for them as well.
